About Light Up

This will be Cochrane Light Up’s 33rd year and has become a great Cochrane tradition.   Light Up is a completely volunteer-driven event, led by a very small committee and close to 100 volunteers. We bring the community together in a Christmas street festival each year.  The businesses along Historic Main Street in Cochrane all decorate their storefronts as we welcome the Holidays to our wonderful hometown.

Local businesses sponsor and decorate fire-pots for the evening which are situated on the closed-off street. The fire pot sponsors provide hot dogs and serve hot chocolate to the attendees for free!

Children can participate in a variety of activities in a family-friendly area – our Cochrane Light Up Igloo found in the Rexall parking lot; Santa will also be there to say hello! Local choirs will be heard up and down the street, while thousands of Christmas lights will be twinkling, adding to the magic of the evening.

Random Acts of Kindness gift bags are distributed to spread holiday cheer, an online Silent Auction, and a Christmas tree in the town square will be lit for the occasion,  not to mention our very own 30-foot tree on top of the Rexall building that can be seen from the top of the hills coming down into town.  There will also be a few more surprises this year, so stay tuned!
